The Medical Council of Canada is pleased to announce the 2021 recipients of its four distinguished awards. The awards recognize the achievements and contributions of individuals and advance research and development in the field of medical education and assessment.
Dr. W. Dale Dauphinee Award for Excellence in Medical Education and Assessment
In support of Dr. Dauphinee’s commitment to learning, this award is given to one medical student and one resident who have demonstrated excellence in medical education and assessment within the Schools of Medicine in Canada.
The award recipients for 2021 are Mr. Ivry Zagury-Orly and Dr. Rachel Curtis.
Dr. M. Ian Bowmer Award for Leadership in Social Accountability
In the spirit of Dr. Bowmer’s advocacy work, this award is given to one medical student and one resident who have demonstrated leadership in social accountability within the Schools of Medicine in Canada.
The award recipients for 2021 are Dr. Zach Sagorin and Dr. Jessie Nault.
Dr. Louis Levasseur Distinguished Service Award
Presented to a Council, staff, or committee member, past or present, or to a person whose collaboration has contributed in an extraordinary manner to the mission and vision of the MCC. The recipient embodies an unwavering commitment to the objectives and principles of Council.
The award recipient for 2021 is Dr. Claire Touchie.
Outstanding Achievement Award in the Evaluation of Clinical Competence
Awarded to an individual who has made a significant and vital achievement in the field of assessment and evaluation of clinical and professional competence in the health professions. This award is unique as it recognizes a broad range of health disciplines.
The award recipient for 2021 is Dr. Kelly Burak and the Physician Learning Program team.
