Submitting a source verification request

You will need to create a new source verification request (SVR) for each medical credential you want to have source verified by the Medical Council of Canada (MCC). A fee is charged for each document you submit for source verification.

  1. Create a account if you do not already have one.
  2. Check the requirements of the medical organization, such as a medical regulatory authority, that you would like to share your credentials with by visiting their website using the list of organizations that can receive documents.
  3. Determine which credentials you would like to submit for verification by reviewing the list of medical credentials the MCC accepts for SVRs.
  4. If your credentials are in a language other than English or French, follow the instructions on how to have them translated before proceeding. If no translation is required, proceed to the next step.
  5. Prepare certified copies of your acceptable identification document(s) that will need to be submitted with your SVR.
  6. Log in to your account.
  7. Click Source verification requests on the left panel.
  8. Click Create a new SVR in the centre panel and follow the instructions on each page.
  9. Pay the SVR document fee.
  10. Review the instructions on how to prepare your documents for submission.
  11. Send copies of your documents (including all required supporting documents and attachments, such as cover sheets) to the MCC as instructed.

Note: If you send a document without a completed and paid SVR, it will be securely shredded 30 days after the date you started the SVR process.
