MCC saddened by recent death of Cindy Streefkerk, Chief Strategic Development Officer

May 4, 2022

We were deeply saddened to learn of the passing of Cindy Streefkerk on April 13, 2022.

Cindy had actively contributed to the Medical Council of Canada (MCC) since 2005, in various capacities, and most recently in her role as Chief Strategic Development Officer.

Throughout her career at the MCC, Cindy lent her business acumen and enthusiasm to several significant projects. She led the creation of a national Multi-Source Feedback program (MCC 360); the visioning, formulation, development and implementation of a pan-Canadian Practice Ready Assessment framework and program (National Assessment Collaboration Practice Ready Assessment); as well as the Assessment Blueprint project to ensure that critical core competencies, knowledge, skills and behaviours required of a physician entering residency and independent practice are appropriately assessed. Her influence was not confined within the walls of the MCC, as she worked with stakeholders across the country, as well as various committees.

Cindy was a successful leader and a dear colleague who has left an indelible mark on the MCC. We extend our deepest sympathies to her family and loved ones.
