Submitting a source verification request

You will need to create a new source verification request (SVR) for each medical credential you want to have source verified by the Medical Council of Canada (MCC). A fee is charged for each document you submit for source verification.

  1. Create a physiciansapply.ca account if you do not already have one.
  2. Check the requirements of the medical organization, such as a medical regulatory authority, that you would like to share your credentials with by visiting their website using the list of organizations that can receive documents.
  3. Determine which credentials you will submit for verification by reviewing the list of medical credentials the MCC accepts for SVRs.
  4. If your credentials are in a language other than English or French, follow the instructions on how to have them translated before proceeding. If no translation is required, proceed to the next step.
  5. If required, prepare copies of your acceptable identity document(s) that will need to be submitted with your SVR. Your primary identity document(s) need to be certified according to our certification requirements.
  6. Review the guidelines on preparing your documents to ensure your documents are ready for upload.
  7. Log into your physiciansapply.ca account.
  8. Click Source verification requests on the left panel.
  9. Click Create a new SVR in the centre panel and follow the instructions on each page. Upload your documents as indicated on each page while you create your SVR.
  10. Pay the SVR document fee.

Note: Once you have uploaded your documents, do NOT send another copy to the MCC.
