The MCC pauses remotely proctored delivery of the MCCQE and the TDM Examination

June 23, 2026

The Medical Council of Canada (MCC) monitors its exam delivery regularly to ensure the integrity and security of its assessments and that it maintains fairness for all candidates. We also consult partner organizations and others who deliver high-stakes examinations to understand current trends and risks. To that end, the MCC has decided to pause remotely proctored (RP) delivery of the Medical Council of Canada Qualifying Examination (MCCQE) and the Therapeutics Decision-Making (TDM) Examination.

Beginning with the upcoming examination session, candidates will complete their exams at Prometric in-person test centres.

This change is intended to provide candidates with a more consistent, reliable, and standardized exam experience. Test centre delivery maximizes the security and integrity of MCC exams by providing a controlled testing environment, consistent technical support, and a seamless candidate experience.

To support candidates during this transition, the MCC has expanded the upcoming exam session. The August 19–September 16 and October 1–21 exam sessions will be combined into a single session running from August 19 to October 21, 2026, providing candidates with additional testing opportunities and greater scheduling flexibility.

Candidates who are currently scheduled for remotely proctored exam appointments will be contacted directly with information regarding next steps and available scheduling options.

Candidates who have completed their application but have not yet scheduled an examination appointment may continue to schedule their examination through Prometric test centres during the expanded session window.
