How to schedule your appointment

Application for the MCCQE is on an ongoing basis. After your application is accepted, you will receive a message through your physiciansapply.ca account confirming that you are eligible to take the MCCQE.

Appointments may be scheduled 5 months prior to the start of an exam session and are only available within the established exam sessions. Scheduling an appointment is on a first-come, first-served basis.

A specific MCCQE session date cannot be guaranteed. If you have a deadline to meet for receiving your MCCQE results, we strongly recommend taking the exam early enough to allow for unforeseeable circumstances. If there is no date available at your preferred test centre or through remote proctoring, please choose another date or test centre.

You must schedule your appointment online on the Prometric website that will walk you through the entire process in an easy-to-understand way. Before accessing the scheduling system, we recommend reviewing the instructions in advance and ensuring you have all the information needed to schedule your appointment.

At times, Prometric may need to cancel a test centre appointment due to unforeseen circumstances. If your appointment is cancelled, you may reschedule into the same or a different test centre pending availability. If your appointment is cancelled or rescheduled, Prometric will send you an email as soon as possible with information on the next steps.

Remotely proctored exam appointments are no longer offered. You can schedule an in-person appointment at Prometric test centres.

FAQs – Pausing the remotely proctored delivery of the MCCQE and the TDM Examination

The MCC regularly reviews examination delivery models to ensure candidates receive a consistent, reliable, and standardized examination experience. Following this review, and to support the integrity, security, and fairness of its assessments, the MCC has decided to pause remotely proctored delivery of the MCCQE and the TDM Examination.

The MCC is currently pausing remote-proctored delivery of the MCCQE and TDM examinations.

The MCC will continue to evaluate examination delivery models and candidate needs over time. At this time, examinations will be delivered exclusively through Prometric test centres.

No. Beginning with the August 2026 MCCQE session and the September 2026 TDM Examination session, examinations will be delivered through Prometric test centres.

Candidates currently scheduled for remotely proctored delivery will be contacted directly with information regarding next steps. They will be able to schedule a new appointment at a Prometric test centre.

Candidates who have not yet scheduled their examination may continue to schedule through Prometric test centres during the expanded session window.

The MCC recognizes that some candidates may have made personal, professional, or travel arrangements based on their previously scheduled remote-proctored appointment and understands that this change may cause inconvenience.

To help minimize the impact on candidates, the MCC has expanded the examination session from August 19 to October 21, 2026, providing additional testing opportunities and greater scheduling flexibility.

Candidates affected by this change will be able to reschedule their examination at a Prometric test centre without additional examination or rescheduling fees.

The MCC cannot reimburse expenses related to personal travel, accommodation, employment leave, or other arrangements made in connection with examination appointments.

How to schedule if you have been granted test accommodations

If you have been granted test accommodations, please call Prometric’s test accommodation team for your geographic region to schedule your exam appointment. Do not attempt to schedule online as exam appointments with granted test accommodations must be scheduled by telephone.

Your 16-digit confirmation number

Once you have scheduled your exam appointment with Prometric, they will send you a 16-digit confirmation number and provide you with additional steps by email. Please keep a record of this number, as you will need it to reschedule/cancel your appointment or to view the details of your appointment on the Prometric website. You will also receive an appointment reminder notice approximately seven days prior to your scheduled appointment.

Extending your eligibility window

If you decided that you are not ready to write the MCCQE within your eligibility window or do not think you will be able to take it within one year, you have the option of extending your eligibility window once by an additional 12 months. You will be able to extend your window of eligibility when your current eligibility window is within 60 days of expiring, and not before.

How to extend your window of eligibility:

  1. If applicable, cancel your appointment with Prometric as soon as possible. Refer to the instructions below on how to cancel your appointment and the associated fees.
  2. You will receive a message in your physiciansapply.ca account with instructions on how to extend your eligibility window 60 days before your original eligibility window expires. If you do not extend your window at that time, you will receive a second reminder one month before the expiry date.
  3. Follow the instructions in the message and pay the administrative fee. If the exam fees have increased since you originally applied for the MCCQE , you will need to pay the difference in the application fees as well. These fees are non-refundable.

If you have not taken the MCCQE within your original eligibility window and did not extend your eligibility window, you will be automatically withdrawn and given a partial refund.
