TDM Examination: Answering short-answer questions

Short-answer questions have one or more correct answers. To respond:

  • Type in the responses you think are correct
  • Type in only one response per text box, unless otherwise specified in the question
  • List only the number of responses asked. You will only receive points for the number of answers that are requested in the question. Your responses will be scored in the order that they appear in each text box; the remaining responses will not be scored.
  • If you feel that no treatment is indicated in your management, please list “No treatment is indicated” in the text box
  • If there is no indication on the number of permissible answers required for a question (e.g., List 2), use your best judgment when responding to that question

Practice answering a short-answer question

A 68-year-old woman presents to the clinic with a 24-hour history of symptoms consistent with progressive isolated left-sided facial nerve paralysis.

  • What drugs should be prescribed? List 2, each from a different class (include dose, route, frequency, and duration).

Time remaining and progress bar

The time remaining and the progress bar are both displayed at the top of the screen.

Time remaining

Each exam section is allocated a specific amount of time, including the tutorial and survey sections. There is also an overall amount of time provided for your full exam appointment. Clicking the clock icon will display the time remaining; it will alternate between the time left for the current section and the time left for the overall exam appointment.

The most important time display is the Section Time Remaining.

An alert box will pop up to signal when 30 minutes, 15 minutes, and 5 minutes remain in the current section.

Progress bar

The progress bar tracks answered questions throughout the entire exam. If all the questions are answered, your progress bar should indicate 100%.

Ending exam sections

After reviewing and finishing all the questions within a section, navigate to the next section by clicking Next on the final question of the section or clicking Finish Section in the top-right corner of the screen.
A pop-up window will appear confirming you want to finish the section. Select “Yes I would like to finish this section” to submit your answers and continue to the next section.

Please note that once you leave a section, you may not return. Any questions that are left incomplete will be marked as incorrect.
