The Medical Council of Canada (MCC), in collaboration with Dr. Filipe Nadir Caparica Santos, is pleased to announce the launch of Study smarter: A study guide for the MCCQE. This new resource is designed to support candidates preparing for the Medical Council of Canada Qualifying Examination (MCCQE).
Preparing for the MCCQE (formerly MCCQE Part I) requires intention. Dr. Santos explains that “many capable physicians struggle not because of a lack of knowledge, but because they haven’t yet found the most effective way to study.” This collaboration reflects the MCC’s ongoing commitment to supporting candidates with practical tools.
Developed with internationally trained physicians in mind, this actionable guide offers a structured, evidence-informed approach to exam preparation. It combines proven learning strategies with a clear overview of the MCCQE Blueprint and Examination Objectives.
The guide also includes a sample study plan that candidates are encouraged to adapt based on their own knowledge and available time to prepare.
The MCC hopes this study guide will help learners study with greater intention and confidence. While the guide is not exhaustive of all content that may be tested and its use does not guarantee exam outcomes, it offers a strong starting point for candidates beginning their preparation. By staying organized and distributing your study time according to how disciplines are represented on the examination, you can position yourself for success.
We wish you the best in your preparation for the MCCQE.
