Notice of suspension of application to the MCCQE Part I due to COVID-19

Notice of suspension of application to the MCCQE Part I due to COVID-19

March 16, 2020

Please be advised that, as the COVID-19 situation in Canada and abroad continues to evolve rapidly, the Medical Council of Canada (MCC) has taken the difficult decision to suspend application to the MCCQE Part I, pending confirmation and announcement of new examination schedules.

As announced on Friday, March 13, the MCCQE Part I session scheduled from April 15 to May 15, 2020, has been postponed. The timing of new examination schedules is under detailed review and will be guided by recommendations from public health authorities. Pending announcement of new exam schedules for the MCCQE Part I, the scheduling of exam appointments with Prometric has also been suspended.

In light of the above, the ability to submit an application for the MCCQE Part I has been deactivated in physiciansapply.ca. Another website update will follow once a new exam schedule is announced and application is reactivated.

For those candidates who have already been accepted to take the MCCQE Part I and who are unable to schedule or reschedule their exam appointment date at this time, please be advised that your exam eligibility windows will be extended to ensure that you will have sufficient time to schedule and take your exam within your current application.
