As of April 1, 2026, the Medical Council of Canada Qualifying Examination Part I (MCCQE Part I) will be renamed the Medical Council of Canada Qualifying Examination (MCCQE).
This change reflects the ongoing evolution of the MCC assessment framework and simplifies the examination’s public-facing name. There are no changes to the examination itself. Its purpose, structure, eligibility requirements, scoring methodology, and role within the licensure pathway remain the same.
You may continue to see references to “MCCQE Part I” during a transition period. These refer to the same examination. Where helpful, the following format may be used:
