Call for nominations

The Medical Council of Canada (MCC), the trusted keeper of physician credentials and assessor of a physician’s general competencies to inform safe licensure decisions in Canada, is recruiting one member to join its volunteer Council for a three-year term. We are committed to Council diversity to bring different perspectives and ideas.

The MCC ensures that physicians have the competencies to support safe, accessible health care in Canada. Annually, the MCC engages close to 30,000 students, graduates, and physicians as part of their pathway towards the practice of medicine in Canada. This includes the assessment of medical students through its qualifying examination in Canada as well as more than 80 other countries in person via remote proctoring.

  • Periodically reviewing, updating, and approving the MCC’s strategic plan, including the MCC’s mission, vision, and values

  • Identifying the principal risks to the MCC and ensuring the implementation of appropriate systems to manage those risks
  • Ensuring the delivery of exams and services that are high-quality and responsive to the needs of the medical profession in Canada
  • Engaging and providing advice and counsel to the Chief Executive Officer (CEO), and monitoring and evaluating the CEO’s performance
