A year of impacts and innovation at the MCC

In April, several members from the Medical Council of Canada (MCC) participated in the Canadian Conference on Medical Education (CCME) that took place virtually from April 17 to 20, 2021. MCC employees gave presentations and participated in workshops related to remotely-proctored high-stakes exams, Objective Structured Clinical Examinations (OSCEs) and the Therapeutics Decision-Making (TDM) Examination. In addition, participants were invited to visit the MCC virtual booth throughout the conference.

On April 19, 2021, Dr. Maureen Topps, the MCC’s Executive Director and CEO, Ms. Becca Carroll, Manager, Knowledge & Decision-Making Assessments at the MCC and Dr. Maxim Morin, Manager, Psychometrics and Assessment Services at the MCC, hosted the MCC’s virtual business session entitled: “A year of impacts and innovation at the MCC: the benefits and challenges of introducing remotely-proctored high-stakes exams.” The presentation explored some of the lessons learned as we shifted to offer the Medical Council of Canada Qualifying Examination (MCCQE) Part I using a remotely-proctored delivery model.
