Newly available preparatory products

To align with adjustments made to the Medical Council of Canada Qualifying Examination (MCCQE) Part I, the Medical Council of Canada (MCC)’s preparatory products have been re-released in a shortened format.

The new Preparatory Examination (PE) and PE-Lite are now available for purchase in the Practice Test Portal.

The PE is a full-length simulation of the MCCQE Part I, consisting of 230 Multiple-Choice Questions (MCQs), and the PE-Lite contains half the number of questions with 115 items. Both the PE and the PE-Lite provide question-level feedback, including the correct answer(s), a detailed rationale and references.

The MCC’s official preparatory products most closely replicate the MCCQE Part I experience as compared to other study products available to candidates. You may choose to use a timed exam mode, or work through them at your own pace, and you’ll become familiar with many of the same features and functions as the actual exam such as flagging a question and highlighting options. These practice exams allow you to develop familiarity with content areas so that on exam day you can focus on proving you have mastered the material.

All of the content in our preparatory products goes through the same rigorous development process as the official exam content. The questions are developed by MCC subject matter experts and refined and approved by physician test committees. Practice content follows the MCCQE Part I Blueprint specifications and content weightings similarly to actual MCCQE Part I test forms and is relevant to the current realities of medical practice in Canada.

The optimized MCCQE Part I, featuring two sections of multiple-choice questions, will be offered across three exam sessions during 2025, beginning in April.
