The Medical Council of Canada (MCC) would like to formally recognize the passing of Dr. Robert James Menzies, a valued and long-standing member of Council.
After being awarded his Licentiate of the Medical Council of Canada in 1977, Dr. Menzies built a successful career as a practising physician in southern Manitoba. He was an important advocate and he actively promoted Family Medicine in his community, his province and across the country – leaving a lasting legacy.
Over the course of his career, he was awarded several important designations including the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee Medal and was named one of Canada’s Family Physicians of the Year in 2002.
Within the organization, he will be remembered for his important contributions while serving on Council for over ten years as a representative from the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Manitoba. Through his tenure on Council, he lent his voice, passion and expertise as a member of the Appeals and the Legislation Committees.
He will be sorely missed by his friends at the MCC.
