Dr. Tanis Adey obtained her medical degree and completed psychiatry residency training at Memorial University, and she is a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada (RCPSC). She completed a master of medical education at the University of Dundee, Scotland. Dr. Adey worked with the Faculty of Medicine, Memorial University, over the span of her career, where she was associate professor and held appointments of Accreditation Co-Lead for the MD Program, and Associate Dean, Undergraduate Medical Education. She has experience in curriculum development, delivery, assessment, and evaluation. She was also an examiner on the RCPSC Psychiatry Exam Board. In addition, Dr. Adey has 25 years of experience as a practising psychiatrist with the regional health authority, delivering medical care to residents of Newfoundland and Labrador. In 2021, Dr. Adey was appointed CEO and Registrar of the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Newfoundland and Labrador.
Dr. Adey received the Canadian Certified Physician Executive (CCPE) credential from the Canadian Society of Physician Leaders. She is a graduate of the ICD-Rotman Directors Education Program and has the ICD.D designation.
