File Transfer Service – for physicians transferring documents
The Medical Council of Canada (MCC) is offering a File Transfer Service for source verified medical credentials. This service provides an easy, seamless way for you to transfer these documents to third parties, which are institutions that are not registered with the MCC. If you have an Educational Credential Assessment report on file, this document is also available for transfer if required by a third party.
The third party needs to create an account and provide you with the email address before you can request a file transfer (see “File Access Service” below). To request a file transfer, log into your physiciansapply.ca account then click on Other service requests in the left panel and follow the steps. You will be asked to provide the third party’s exact email address.
A fee per document will apply, up to four documents. If you are transferring more than four documents to the same third party, you will only be charged for four documents.
When you complete your File Transfer request, you can contact the third party directly to inform them that your documents have been transferred. The third party has 30 days to access your documents before your request expires.
File Access Service – for third parties accessing documents
Third parties that are not currently registered with the Medical Council of Canada (MCC) can create a File Access Service account. This service allows you to access transferred documents such as source verified credentials and Educational Credential Assessment reports.
For the physician to transfer successfully his/her documents, you must:
- Create an account, by clicking on fileaccess.physiciansapply.ca and following the instructions
- Provide the physician with the exact email address that you entered at account creation
The physician will then transfer the documents at which time you will receive an email confirming that you can now access the documents.
Once the physician has transferred the documents, you will have 30 days to access them from your File Access Service account. To access the transferred documents, click on Access File(s) in the left panel of your account.
