September 2026 TDM Examination application is now open

June 8, 2026

Beginning today, June 8, 2026, the Medical Council of Canada (MCC) has opened application for the Therapeutics Decision-Making (TDM) Examination scheduled for September 23, 2026. The application period will close on June 28, 2026, at 11:59 p.m., Eastern Time.

The exam assesses the competence of candidates at the level required of a family physician practising independently and safely in Canada and is primarily intended for internationally trained physicians seeking entry into a Practice-Ready Assessment (PRA) program. Before applying for the exam for admission to a PRA program, it is important that candidates review the requirements of the program of their interest to confirm their eligibility.

As announced on April 15, 2026, the TDM Examination application process is now administered by the MCC, making it possible for candidates to take the exam without an invitation or approval from a PRA program. To apply for the September 2026 exam, candidates must complete and submit the online form available in the section How to apply for the TDM Examination on the TDM Examination Eligibility and Application page.

The TDM Examination is delivered through our vendor Prometric at test centres in Canada and worldwide. Scheduling for the September 2026 exam will start at the end of July. Before candidates can schedule an exam appointment with Prometric, their exam application must be reviewed and accepted in their physiciansapply.ca account.
