The Medical Council of Canada Evaluating Examination (MCCEE) is offered up to five times a year. Each testing window is two to three weeks long and held in January, March, May, September and November.
Please note that the last session of the MCCEE will be held in November 2018. If you apply to the MCCEE, your eligibility window will end on November 15, 2018. Please visit our news post for more information.
Once your MCCEE application has been accepted, your next step is to schedule an examination appointment — a date, time and location — with Prometric, the service provider that administers the exam.
How to schedule your appointment?
After your application is accepted, you will receive a message through your physiciansapply.ca account confirming that you are eligible to take the MCCEE. This message will also include instructions on how to get your authorization to test (ATT) number, which you will need when scheduling your appointment with Prometric.
You can schedule your appointment online or by telephone. We recommend the online option as the Prometric website will walk you through the entire process in an easy-to-understand way.
- If you want to schedule online, see the step-by-step instructions on how to use the Prometric website.
- If you want to schedule by telephone, see the list of Prometric call centres.
Scheduling is on a first-come, first-served basis. While there are more than 500 Prometric test centres in some 80 countries, not every centre offers seats for every MCCEE date. If there are no seats at your preferred test centre on a specific date, you may choose another test centre or wait until additional exam sessions are available.
Prometric will provide you with a 16-digit confirmation number when scheduling is complete. Please keep a record of this number, as you will need it to reschedule/cancel your appointment or to view the details of your appointment on the Prometric website.
How to reschedule or cancel your appointment
If you reschedule or cancel your appointment up to 30 days before the examination date, there is no charge. You can cancel or reschedule your appointment directly through Prometric, either online or by telephone. You will need the 16-digit confirmation number you received when you first scheduled your appointment.
If you reschedule or cancel your appointment less than 30 days before the examination date, you will need to pay a USD $50 fee to Prometric.
Appointments cannot be rescheduled or cancelled fewer than 120 hours (five days) before the examination: if you have not cancelled or rescheduled and cannot attend your exam, your examination fee will not be refunded. (For more information, see our policy on cancelling your examination appointment.)
How to withdraw your MCCEE application
If you are certain you no longer want to take the MCCEE, you may withdraw your application. If your request to withdraw is received up to 120 hours (five days) before your scheduled appointment, a partial refund of your examination fee will be provided.
For more information, see how to withdraw your MCCEE application.
Note: We are pleased to announce a more streamlined assessment process for international medical graduates and international medical students. Starting in 2019, we will be delivering the Medical Council of Canada Qualifying Examination (MCCQE) Part I in Canada and internationally in over 80 countries, up to five times per year. Once the MCCQE Part I is offered internationally, we will be phasing out the MCCEE. November 2018 will be the last session. You will have until mid-November 2018 to take the MCCEE.
