MCCQE Part I report

MCCQE Part I Report to the Dean

The Medical Council of Canada Qualifying Examination (MCCQE) Part I Report to the Dean is published every year for the spring exam session. It is published in mid-October, approximately four months after the Central Examination Committee meeting in June where exam results are confirmed.

The MCCQE Part I Report to the Dean contains the following sections:

Section I A graphic representation of the school’s mean total scores and pass rate, the total score distribution within the total score range, and the mean scores and pass rate for each discipline as compared to those of Canadian medical graduate (CMG) first-time takers.

Section II A tabular representation showing the medical school’s mean total score and the mean scores for each discipline as well as the number and percentage of students falling below the mean of CMG first-time takers.

Section III A tabular representation showing the medical students’ performance on the multiple choice section of the MCCQE Part I by item difficulty level. These scores are reported for the total multiple choice section broken down by difficulty level and by discipline.

Section IV Tabular and graphic representations comparing the medical school’s mean total score, mean scores for each discipline, and the pass rate, to those of CMG first-time takers for each of the previous five years.

Section V A summary describing how students from the medical school performed on various MCC objectives. This section is comprised of one table listing objectives for which students scored at least 80% correct, a second table listing objectives for which students scored 40% correct or below, a third table listing objectives for which students scored at least 10% higher than the average for CMGs, and a fourth table listing objectives for which students scored at least 10% lower than the average for CMGs.

Section VI A tabular and graphic representation of each of the medical school campuses’ performance in each discipline, and as compared to CMG first-time takers. (This section is only provided to schools with distributed campuses)
