To address limited capacity to the examination, a pre-application period (see dates below) will be available where, if you meet the eligibility criteria, you will be able to add your name to a pre-application list through your physiciansapply.ca account. There is no rush to add your name to the list; you will be able to do so at any point during the pre-application period.
We anticipate that, for the spring 2017 Medical Council of Canada Qualifying Examination Part II, we will be able to accommodate the applications of all candidates in their second year of residency and above. We will allocate all remaining capacity to candidates in their first year of residency, following the application of all other candidate groups.
Pre-application period – from Oct. 26 to Nov. 23, 2016
The pre-application period will be opening on Wednesday, October 26, 2016 and closing at 11:59 p.m., Eastern Time on Wednesday, November 23, 2016. Eligible candidates – whether in their first year of residency or further along in their training/career – interested in applying to the spring 2017 exam will be able to add their name to the pre-application list through their physiciansapply.ca account.
Following the close of the pre-application period on November 23, 2016, we will be randomly selecting PGY-2+ candidates from the pre-application list. If you are selected, we will send you a message through your physiciansapply.ca account with information on when and how to submit an application. You could receive an invitation to apply at any point between approximately December 1 to December 16, 2016.
We will be randomly selecting PGY-1 candidates from the pre-application list after capacity has been allocated to all other candidate groups. If you added your name to the pre-application list during the pre-application period, and are subsequently selected, you will receive an invitation to apply in late January 2017.
Fall 2016 MCCQE Part I or Part II candidates
A separate pre-application period will be available after you receive your exam results in December. You will receive information on the pre-application process in your physiciansapply.ca account.
